What is Grief Yoga®?

We all experience loss throughout our lives. Grief is the natural human response to this loss.

The stronger our connection to that loss, the deeper our grief. We can feel lost, alone and overwhelmed, with no end in sight.

Grief Yoga® is suitable for all. It combines gentle movement, breath and sound to help you release pain and suffering and reconnect back to love.

How does grief affect you?

Grief can affect us on many different levels - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and socially.

  • Physically - grief can bring with it fatigue, heaviness, lethargy, tightness and tension, disrupted sleep, and digestive issues.

  • Mentally - grief may lead to disturbing thoughts, loss of memory, distraction, difficulty concentration, and anxiety.

  • Emotionally - grief usually stirs up strong, powerful, raw and often conflicting emotions that can feel overwhelming.

  • Spiritually - grief could lead to a major changes in your world view, your sense of purpose, and enthusiasm for ‘life’.

  • Socially - grief often causes significant changes to your relationships, support networks and sense of belonging.

How can Grief Yoga® help?

Grief Yoga® offers a safe space where you can express your grief without fear of judgement or expectation. It follows the cycle of ‘compassionate transformation’ to help support you through the pain and suffering of loss.

  • Relieve muscle tension - gentle flowing movement and breath help you to release tension and relax the body.

  • Calm the mind - simply mindfulness practices help calm the mind and stem the tide of troubling and disturbing thoughts, allowing you to think more clearly.

  • Manage difficult emotions - practical ways to understand, express and manage the maelstrom of emotions you may feel overwhelmed by.

  • Helps you catch your breath - simple techniques to help you reconnect with your natural , deeply nurturing breath.

  • Creates time and space to mourn - discover a dedicated time and space for you to honour and acknowledge your grief in however feels right for you - a time of self-care and compassion.
